Rafa Benitez hailed Liverpool's character after they completed their first comeback of the season to beat Bolton on Saturday.
Goals from Glen Johnson, Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard cancelled out Kevin Davies and Tamir Cohen's strikes to give the Reds the three points in the fixture Benitez labelled as a "must-win".
The visitors completely bossed the Reebok encounter despite the scoreline to hand a perfect response from the 3-1 home defeat to Aston Villa and sees them claim their first away win of the season.
"The players showed character and it was a perfect response from the players," Benitez told Sky Sports.
"I think we were in control, we had plenty of possession but clearly when you play with 10 players it is more difficult.
"You can say it was important - it was important to them, but still we had a lot of possession and I feel we were controlling the game.
"We needed to win, everybody was working so hard and I think we deserved to win and now they can enjoy with the national teams and we will be enjoying without too many players but with this we have three more points."
Benitez, however, gave some bad news to Liverpool supporters hoping for some more additions before the transfer window closure, when asked he added: "No I don't think so, I think that will be difficult."
