Kuyt issues Chelsea warning

The Blues sit on top of the Premier League and have been tipped as potential champions after a 100 per cent start to the season under new manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Kuyt, though, expects every team to suffer a stumble at some point in the campaign and the Holland international believes Chelsea will struggle in the title race.

The 29-year-old and his Liverpool team-mates have already lost to Tottenham and Aston Villa this season, and he expects Ancelotti's side to hit a similar rough patch.

Kuyt, who will travel to Stamford Bridge with the Reds on 4th October, said in the Daily Mirror: "Chelsea are a top side.

"We knew that at the start of the season and we've seen that so far. But every team will struggle this season.

"At the moment, it's not important to look at where teams like Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal are because we've got to think about ourselves.

"That is the priority and I'm sure, if we keep winning games, we'll be up there soon.

"We will see where we are in a couple of months but, at this stage, it's more important to think about ourselves and our own performances."

Liverpool left it late to grab a 3-2 win at Bolton on Saturday and Kuyt hopes the club are now moving towards top form.

"The most important thing for us was to win the game against Bolton and get the three points," he added.

"Everyone knows we have lost two games early in the season and the only medicine there is to put that right is to win games."
